Waterproof 14K Gold Plated Zircon Drop Earrings
A water-drop pendant set with zircon beneath a round stud, in 14K gold plating over stainless steel. Four designs.
What "Waterproof" Actually Means Here
The stainless steel core will not rust, corrode or discolour in water — that part is genuinely waterproof, and it is why steel is the right base metal for earrings you intend to leave in. The gold plating on top is still a surface layer, and chlorine, salt water and repeated hot showers will soften its colour over time. So: safe to get wet, and better still if you rinse and dry them afterwards.

Why Stainless Steel Matters on an Earring
The post sits inside the piercing for hours at a time, which makes the base metal matter more here than on any other kind of jewellery. Stainless steel contains no free copper and releases very little nickel, so it is one of the better-tolerated metals for anyone who reacts to costume jewellery — and unlike alloy, it will not corrode against skin.
Care
Far less than most earrings need. Rinse in clean water after chlorine or sea water, dry them properly, and store them somewhere dry. Put them in after hairspray rather than before. No polishing required — steel does not tarnish.
FAQ
Is this solid 14 carat gold?
No. It is 14K gold plating over a stainless steel core, which the supplier states explicitly. Any solid gold article over one gram sold in the UK must carry a hallmark.
